Monster Island, the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster was released at the same time that Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious island where a monstrous creature lives, and the creature is, in a sense, the island itself.


To keep costs low, the film (original blog) only follows a few human characters. All A-listers are on one set so they can shoot all their sequences while having lunch. The Asylum may not do so badly considering that it's a kaiju-themed film.
